Marcy R. Gee

May 5, 1931 - December 9, 2008

 

Marcia R. Gee, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully left her body on December 9, 2008, after a short unexpected illness.

Marcy was born on May 5, 1931, in Worcester, Massachusetts. She came to California as a young girl. She married at age 16and moved to Moorpark, California, where she raised her five children.

In 1984, she moved to Reno, Nevada, to care for her mother and began a long career at the J. C. Penney Company.

In 2000, Marcy retired from J. C. Penney and moved to the Santa Maria, California, area to be near her family. She worked the last several years at her oldest son Daren’s strawberry stand in Santa Maria and made many new friends. As an eight-year member of California Women for Agriculture, Marcy attended conferences at numerous venues throughout California and recently in San Antonio, Texas.

Marcy’s zest for life and positive outlook were attributes that enabled her to make friends wherever she went. Her radiant smile and unassuming nature will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She loved to travel and had a passion for hiking. But her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren. Marcy’s combination of devoted love and inner strength was an inspiration to all ofus. We will miss her dearly.

Marcy is survived by her children Daren, Dawayne (Chip), Donna and Dale, and her thirteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, David Allen Gee, her mother, Ella Bellows and her father, Orin Bellows.
